SUBJECT: India Regulatory Changes – Sea Cargo Manifest and Transshipment Regulations (SCMTR) – Effective 1st August 2018
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIT) Notification Number 38 / 2018 – Customs (N.T.) has made the Sea Cargo Manifest and Transshipment Regulations 2018, which will come into force on 1st August 2018. These regulations supersede earlier Legislations of Import Manifest (Vessels) Regulations of 1971, Export Manifest (Vessels) Regulations of 1976 and Transportation of Goods (Through Foreign Territory) Regulations of 1965.
Shipping Lines must strictly comply with the new requirement for manifest of Export, Import and Transshipment cargoes in India. Customers are required to follow the key requirements and provide shipping details to carriers for meeting the regulations. Meanwhile, the detailed requirement and mandatory data for manifest are still under discussion and we will keep you updated of the status as soon as possible.
