Dear Valued Customers,
Subject: Tanzania Customs Declaration – “TO ORDER” Bill of Lading – Update
We thank you for shipping with Emirates Shipping Line to East Africa.
With reference to our notice of 12th March, we would like to inform you the latest development and necessary action. As updated by Tanzania Shipping Agents Association (TASAA), Tanzania local authority has confirmed that TO ORDER BL is allowed on condition of actual consignee for manifest and Bill of Lading before import general manifest submission (IGM). Otherwise, customs penalties and delay will incur. Therefore, we appreciate your full focus on following highlights and strict compliance.
- Highly recommend your good company to avoid TO ORDER and TO ORDER OF BANK Bill of Lading to Tanzania, including Local, In transit and Through BL via Dar Es Salaam. Please ensure actual consignee is stipulated on the Bill of Lading Consignee field.
- In case TO ORDER and TO ORDER OF BANK Bill of Lading is indeed necessary for L/C and trading purpose, please ensure to surrender full set Bill of Lading for AMENDMENT to Direct Consignment (ACTUAL CONSIGNEE on the Bill of Lading Consignee field) with a minimum of 5 days before ETA Tanzania port. Failure to do so will lead to Amendment fee USD70 + BL Fee USD45 (quantum subject to change) and any other penalties by customs. These extra costs and customs clearance delay will be on cargo owners’ account.
We are looking forward to your kind understanding and continuous support to our company. Our local offices will continue to keep close coordination with your good company for any necessary arrangement.
