SUBJECT: Umm Qasr, Iraq – Port Situation Update
With reference to the updates from our Iraq field office, there are on-going protests and demonstrations in many cities of Iraq, including Basra since 13 July 2018. Due to this, the access roads to the port of Umm Qasr have been blocked and many other traffic disruptions reported.
It has been notified by the IPA (Iraq Port Authority) and ICT (Iraq Container Terminal), that the port will remain shut which is effecting the vessel operations. In addition to this, the yards as well as customs offices are to be suspended and not working until further notice.
All activities including discharging / loading of containers as well as pick up and clearance of containers from the port will be delayed.
We will stay close to the development and keep you updated of the status. Should you have any queries, please feel free to contact our local office and Customer Service Representatives for details.
