We’re looking for a self-motivated individual to take on the role of Operations Manager in our Thailand office, who will be responsible for overall logistics operations and ensuring the individual responsibilities of each team member are handled in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Tasks may include but are not exclusive to: Liaison with Customs Authorities, CFS, Empty Depot, Transporters, Line Commercial/Operations for IHC costing & Line Logistics Team for evacuation of non-required empty units to other locations with minimum cost, & sale of units with maximum cost via proper channels.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth & error free functioning of Liner services, effective coordination with team members, consortium partners, slot operators, ESL Sales/Customer Service teams for Operations-related matters.
- Ensure all marine- & container-related documentation for all ESL & consortium ships/loadings is completed prior to arrival and after departure, in a timely fashion.
- Coordinate with Accounts/Docs team for all ops related invoice queries & Keep updating for changes in Port Tariffs/procedures.
- Communicate effectively with Vessel Master, Central planners & Port terminal for better stowage & faster turnaround of ESL vessels
- Handle vessel operations from berthing till sailing. Prepare Export Terminal / Vessel Operator List and submit according to SOP.
- Attend meetings with local associations, to discuss various operations-related matters with other shipping lines / terminals to find solutions to reduce additional costs to the Trade team.
- Liaise with depot / transporters for smooth empty repo movements as advised by logistics team.
- Follow up with terminal for gate opening and distribute E Form-13 distribution to all partners and keep track of gate opening and form-13.
- Send container booking forecast to vessel planning managers. Share pre-stowage plans with terminals and coordinate with terminals for any changes to be made in plan.
- Send TDR (Terminal Departure Report) to all concerned parties and ensure call confirmation is done in a timely manner.
- Prepare onboarding confirmation with cost-collection information and send documents to all destinations’ CS / Sales / Finance teams.
- Prepare Monthly volume reports & send to respective CFS’s as well as our accounts & GPC to calculate rabbets.
- Coordinate with Terminal & Depot for railing out import ICD containers on FIFO basis to reduce storage cost to the company.
- Attend hearings at Customs / local police for export / imports consignment-related matters and explain the facts to them to reduce / avoid penalty to the company.
- Coordinate with Terminals for timely shifting of ICD export mix train containers from neighboring terminals to avoid shut-out/missed connections & save cost to company or our clients.
- Liaise with Marine Department for permission to perform vessel-related activities including minor repairs / spot painting / engine immobilizations and port health clearance / vessel sanitation certification & crew change activities.
- Calculate cost sheets for all operations expenses & align with finance team to establish budget (inclusive of forecast) and actual cost control .
- Initiate gameplan for cost saving program.
- Coordinate with sales team & Terminals for gate opening / closing to restrict early gate in & controlling unnecessary storage cost to company.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business admin, supply chain management or related fields
- Minimum 10 years experience in Operations and container control with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Fluency in English
- Computer literacy
- Service-mindedness and self-motivation
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to lead a team
