Subject: TBL to Uganda – Malaba Border Status Update
Referring to our notice dated 5 January on the strike situation at Malaba Border, we would like to update you the latest development for your best arrangement of Through BL shipments via Mombasa, Kenya to Uganda destinations.
Local Authorities have adjusted the new requirement of covid-19 test and the clearance of backlog is in progress but unfortunately still being delayed due to following situation. As reported by transport vendors, the truck queue at border is around 30 km or 5,500+ trucks currently.

Shortage of trucks returned to Mombasa for consignment
Shortage of E-Seals by Customs for dispatch of TBL boxes
Increased transit population at Mombasa yard
Transit delay is inevitable and it is anticipated to take at least another two weeks for the clearance, leading to extra costs not limiting to port storage at Mombasa. Considering this force majeure situation absolutely beyond carriers’ control, we will recover the costs from customers before cargo release. We will keep close coordination with our truck vendors for the earliest movement for your shipments.
