Subject: TBL to Uganda – Malaba Border Status 3rd Update
Referring to our notice dated 25 January on the critical situation at Malaba Border, we would like to update you the latest development for your best arrangement of Through BL shipments via Mombasa, Kenya to Uganda destinations.
As reported by transport vendors, Kenya and Uganda have taken steps to speed up clearance of trucks at Malaba border. Currently, the truck queue at border has decreased to less than 10 km.
Clearance of backlog is still in progress and estimated Malaba border will return to normal operations by next week.
- Fast Clearance by strategy of stopping scanning & weighing.
- But congestion still exists by secondary bottleneck in system of Malaba Uganda side.
- Transit delay is still anticipated.
Considering the force majeure situation absolutely beyond carriers’ control, we will recover any extra costs not limiting to port storage from customers before cargo release. We will keep close coordination with our truck vendors for the earliest movement for your shipments.
