This role supports ESL’s procurement strategy and operations as a corporate function. It requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to follow up on existing contracts and take the initiative to make recommendations for opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, procurement and the maritime industry.
Responsibilities:
- Organize the existing contracts and agreements. Follow up and keep track on the execution of agreed-upon terms in an organized manner.
- Proactively provide reports and updates to the manager and management on procurement activities and performance against the agreed terms.
- Assist the manager in contract and agreement negotiations with suppliers by shrewdly analysing past and present data and presenting it in a rational way.
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the best pricing, quality and delivery terms.
- Collect market data and trends to identify cost savings and efficiency improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trade, finance, operations and logistics. Ensure procurement processes meet commercial requirements and operational needs.
- Review existing work processes in ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations and sustainability standards in procurement practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics).
- 5 years of relevant working experience, candidates with lesser experience will be considered as Assistant Manager.
- Proven experience in terminal management, managing vendors within the shipping industry.
- Experience with contract negotiation and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of the shipping industry.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and data in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and drive results.
- Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Fluent spoken Cantonese, Mandarin & English.
- Proficient in written English & Chinese.
