To lead and manage the Capacity Management team, ensuring optimal container cargo planning, space utilization, and flow control across assigned services. This role plays a key part in supporting the commercial strategy by ensuring accurate forecasting, timely communication, and coordination between trade, terminal, and network stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide the team.
- Coach and develop team members to improve operational knowledge and communication skills.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor performance against KPIs.
Cargo Management & Planning:
- Monitor and manage the cargo flow, including bookings, loadings, transshipment, and final deliveries.
- Ensure optimal utilization of vessel capacity by balancing cargo load and container placement.
- Collaborate with the Trade and Operations teams to adjust allocations based on real-time demand and vessel schedules.
Coordination with Internal Departments:
- Liaise with Customer Service, Sales, and Documentation teams to align cargo flow with customer requirements and delivery timelines.
- Work closely with the Operations team for real-time updates on vessel schedules, port conditions, and cargo stowage plans.
- Provide regular updates to management on cargo movement status, potential delays, and mitigation strategies.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track cargo movement through various stages of the shipping process using the company’s cargo management system.
- Generate daily and weekly capacity reports, highlighting potential risks and opportunities for optimization.
- Analyze performance metrics related to cargo flow efficiency and propose improvements where necessary.
Optimization & Process Improvement:
- Identify bottlenecks in the cargo flow process and recommend solutions to improve efficiency.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce operational costs, increase service reliability, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in shipping line cargo planning, container flow.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing small teams.
- Proficiency Excel-based reporting.
- Analytical mindset with a proactive problem-solving approach.
- Ability to work under pressure and coordinate across multiple time zones.
