Senior Executive, Vessel Planning, Operations – Dubai, UAE

We’re looking for a self-motivated individual to take on the role of Vessel Planner in our Dubai office, who will be responsible for overall supervision of all vessel operations, liaison with ports, terminals, stevedores, schedule integrity and internal control processes and environment. In this role, the individual will take accountabilities for all activities related to the stowage planning of the vessel and scheduling.

To excel in this role, you should be someone with strong communication and planning skills, with the ability to deal with and perform in ambiguous / stressful situations. You must be someone with a strong attention to details, with a drive for problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellent working relationship with Vessel Sharing Agreement (VSA) service partners, liaising with counterparts in VSA partner companies to ensure that allocations are adhered to.
  • Plan vessel stowage maximise lifting capacity of the vessel without compromising on mandatory regulations. e.g. IMO and IMDG.
  • Liaise with Capacity Management to ensure optimization and maximization of the vessels.
  • Liaise with the ship, terminals, ports, stevedores and local agents on issues relating to berthing of vessels, stowage planning, stevedoring in order to ensure that all necessary resources are available for the ship to complete its operations in the port in the most efficient manner.
  • Comply with VSA.
  • Maintain demonstrable records of all operational activities.
  • Maintain the ERP systems with regards to scheduling.
  • Work closely together with the operations team to maintain schedule, reduce cost and optimize bunker consumption.
  • Monitoring the unutilized space for each vessel and pushing agents to top up empty’s timely in order to make vessel full leaving all ports.

Requirements

  • College degree preferably in ships management or port operations or related discipline.
  • Experience on board vessels is advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of vessel planning and container stowage is advantageous.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of EDI and system development.
  • Computer literacy, especially MS Office applications, knowledge of system programming is a prerequisite.
